DJ, Vocalist, producer, purveyor of musical delights and prowess of the night, with over 10 years’ experience under her belt, it’s fair to say Michelle Manetti is a jack of all trades master of many. Her love of old skool sounds crosses from obsession to perversion and back again and can be clearly heard in her music.
Michelle is the founder and Chief editor of prestigious female run music blog http://www.lipstickdisco.co.uk which has built up an enviable reputation within the industry and among it’s solid fanbase for showcasing the finest and freshest underground House, Techno and Disco, with particular emphasis on promoting female talent.
As an artists herself, Michelle Manetti first came to notoriety as vocalist and front woman for Nu Disco-Electronica outfit ‘The Off Key Hat’ whose releases on Andy Blakes vinyl-only label ‘Dissident’ and Yam Who’s ‘ISM’ that teamed them up with remixers such as Ashley Beedle, Daniel Baldelli and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy elevated the band to cult status. Michelle has also worked as a vocalist, both live and in the studio with the likes of Serge Santiago (Waze & Odyssey) Tom Neville, Fonzarelli, Joey Negro, Pete Gooding and Prok and Fitch. Recent releases include EP’s on Brazil’s Scandalo Music and Hamburg based Soso.
As well as a vocalist, Michelle Manetti is an accomplished DJ in her own right, with a strong presence on the East London underground queer scene. With over 10 years of experience under her belt, she has played worldwide alongside the likes of Duke Dumont, Waze & Odyssey, Dimitri From Paris, The Magician, Lee Foss, Russ Yallop, Eli & Fur, Martin Ikin, Rory Phillips, Severino, Terry Farley, Guy Williams, JD Samson + many more, with guest and residencies at venues such as XOYO, Egg, Ministry Of Sound, Scala, Coronet, Dance Tunnel, Dalston Superstore, East Bloc, Plan B and Cargo among many.
2015 saw Michelle collaborate with Sandra Le to launch two successful Bi-Monthly girls nights, showcasing female House and Techno DJ’s; with guests such as Joyce Muniz, DJ Paulette, Smokin Jo, Hannah Holland, Maya Schenk, Coco Cole, Lauren Flax, Alinka, Kim Anh & Gina Breeze + more equally impressive DJs in the pipeline.
Having experimented with various sounds over the years, Michelle is well known for her eclecticism and dynamic sets, drifting seamlessly between House, techno and disco with a particular persuasion for Jackin beats, funky grooves and soulful melodies.
With some exciting projects and collaborations in the pipeline, Michelle Manetti is a DJ to keep a watchful eye on.
